Job ≠ Work

I thought I had it all figured out… I was going to go away to college, graduate in three years, go on to med school, and become a doctor. After my first semester as a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major at the University of Florida, I quickly realized I was living a lie for over a decade.

Medicine was not my true passion, business was. However, I didn’t know what specialty of business was truly for me. There are so many different aspects to it. I had always been a math whiz so I figured maybe I should give the world of finance a shot. By the end of my freshman year of college, I landed an internship with Merrill Lynch Global Private Client division. It was my first true work experience, and I’d be lying if I said I enjoyed it. One day when I had to make 600 cold calls, my boss walked in half way through it and said, “You know, if you smile while talking on the phone it really comes though.” I would never forget that; it was a big turning point in my life. At that instant I decided I wanted to be my own boss and set my own rules.
That same summer I started my first company “Dream Team Electronics”, where I quickly learned many lessons. It was a successful failure. My sophomore year I took some entrepreneurial classes and fell in love with it. I got very involved with entrepreneurship from there on out and never looked back since. I had finally found my true passion.
As long as you do something you love, a job you are truly passionate about, you will never have to work a day in your life.
